This early public artwork by January Marx Knoop is clearly in immediate need of restoration. Who in our city is responsible for maintenance of public artworks? In Clifton there is an idea to spend $150,000 of public funds for "art carpets" on Ludlow Avenue, but no money from that capital improvement is allowed to be set aside for cleaning and maintenance of same. The time for smart planning and responsible oversight of our shared cultural partrimony has come. The same privileged/exclusive behaviors that spawned universal economic collapse are operating in our hometown. The call to reform is loud and clear.
